I already have read the Well Designed Life book. How is this different?
This course is about building up a skillset and process of design iteration. What that means is that you will take one behavior and apply four rounds of different brain science-design principles in order to tweak it and refine it over and over. By doing this in iterations, you get a different result with more dimension than doing the individual exercises that are included in the book (which are also practical and helpful in their own way). It is much like the distinction between taking a two-hour cooking class to get your feet wet versus completing a full culinary course with knife skills, etc.
If I start the course, but it is not exactly what I need, can I get a refund?
Our #1 concern is that you are satisfied—even thrilled—with your experience! If you purchase a course but your availability changes or the curriculum is not a match for your needs, you can either 1) defer your same course for free, 2) switch and apply your tuition to another course (while paying or being refunded the difference) or 3) receive a full refund, within the first two weeks of the course. Any cancellation after the first two weeks of your course will be non-refundable, but your paid tuition can be deferred and applied to a future course as credit.
What is the difference between the self-guided and expert-guided version of the course? What additional value does the expert-guided course offer?
To choose between the self-guided and expert-guided version of the course, we would suggest asking yourself: what do I want out of this? If you have a specific, pressing behavior change to design, such as for your work or your performance, and you want to make sure you do it, we suggest the expert-guided experience. With that course, you have additional feedback and ideas from Dr. Bobinet, adjacent tips and collaboration from your fellow designers, and a weekly scheduled live Q+A call to keep you on track and making progress.
If you need more flexibility and can tinker on your own, you may want to take the self-guided course—it is designed to be clear and straight-forward on its own. Plus, you can purchase individual design support if you need to enhance your experience.
How long can I access my course?
While each course is designed to take you four weeks, we have extended your access to the course content to eight weeks so you can go at a more relaxed pace or take the extra time to dive deeper in one particular design area.
What do I get as takeaway materials from the course?
You will get our premium set of downloadable design templates that you can use for future behavior designing, as well as tons of bonus material in the form of master level worksheets, design sprints, and brainstorming exercises.
What if I am working on private or intellectual property-related designs?
In the self-guided course, you have complete privacy. In the expert-guided course, you will not be identified to the rest of your group by name unless you choose to share that. We are committed to making the design club environment a safe one.
